The year 2011 is highly auspicious
in that Chulalongkorn University celebrates the 150th birth
anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore who is often referred to as the great wisdom
of Asia or the sun of India. Tagore is a worldly renowned Bengali poet and the
first Asian to be rewarded Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. Several works of
Tagore and particularly Gitanjali have been highly respected and
classified as intellectual and spiritual power.

Chula Global Network (CGN) in collaboration with the Institute of Asian Studies, Indian Studies Center of Chulalongkorn University, Embassy of India, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Rockefeller foundation lately organized an international conference to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore with the theme “Tagore’s Vision for Asia: Human Solidarity beyond Nationalism” on June 16 -17, 2011 at Room 105, Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
Respectively the cordial event and exhibition were addressed by Professor Charas Suwanwela, M.D., Chairperson, Chulalongkorn University and His Excellency Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, Ambassador to The Embassy of India and Assistant Professor M.R. Dr. Kalaya Tingsabadh, Vice President, Chulalongkorn University. Meanwhile, more than 130 participants were drawn from various ranges including local and international experts, diplomatic officials, academia and students.
However, the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore exhibition and special activities including talks about Tagore’s paintings, films and literatures will be continuously held until July 16, 2011 on Mondays at Room 210 and 205, Maha Chulaongkorn Building. Indonesia and Thailand diplomatic relationship has endured 60 years this year of 2010. It was in 1950 when the diplomatic relationship was formally established followed by the establishment of their diplomatic missions in both Capitals. During the sixty year period, corporation has been conducted in all sectors, among others, politics and security, economics, trade and education. Exchange of visits between Leaders of Indonesia and Thailand has developed a mutual understanding between the governments.
